Mort d'Arroüet [sic] de Voltaire, 1778.

Manuscript., in ink, by an unidentified author, in an unidentified contemporary hand, describing Voltaire's final visit to Paris (Feb.-May 1778) and his last illness, death and burial. Comprises "Lettre d'envoi a Mgr. l'eveque d'A., du 1er decembre 1778" (p. 1-6), "Circonstances de la mort de Voltaire arrivée le 30 may 1778" (p. 7-183) and "Extrait mortuaire de M. de Voltaire tiré mot à mot des registres des actes de la sépulture de l'abbaye royale de Notre-Dame de Scellieres, diocese de Troyes" (p. 183-187). The last is signed at end by 4 of Voltaire's relatives as witnesses and the prior of the abbey: "L'abbé [Alexandre Jean] Mignot, [A.M.F. de Paule] de Dompierre d'Hornoy, [P.F.] Marchant de Varennes, [M.H.] Marchant de la Houliere, [G.G.E.] Potherat de Corbiere, prieur."
